West Ham Target Silvestre

The Manchester Evening News say that West Ham are keen to sign Mikael Silvestre. Apparently Roma and Club America of Mexico are also interested in the French defender.

The paper say that Silvestre is looking for wages of around £60,000 a week. As Curbishley has been ordered to cut the wage bill at West Ham this could be a huge sticking point to any possible deal.

Silvestre also qualifies for a testimonial next year at Man Utd which may also encourage the player to stay put.

The News of the World as usual are on another planet. They say West Ham are set to pay £9m for Lazio right-back Valon Behrami of Switzerland.

Well...a respected ITK has said on ITBS that this is a done deal! I find it hard to believe we want another right sided midfielder/defender but maybe Faubert, Bowyer, Ljungberg and even Neill at RB are all off?

It seems it is a "Webster" transfer where the player has given notice to his club during the last year of his contract and can move for the balance of his contract as compensation.

He's always injured for the past couple of seasons isn't he? Getting on a bit, best years behind him. Sounds perfect for the new regime at Upton Park. Just glad I couldn't afford to renew my ticket this year, it's gonna be grim!!
