Ipswich 3 West Ham 5

Upson returned to the defence for this game and Ashton returned to partner Bellamy up front. Richard Wright started in goal for Ipswich

It took Ashton just four minutes to get on the score sheet, cannoning in a shot off the crossbar from an Etherington cross. Two minutes later and Ipswich were level after Garvan beat Green from eight yards.

In the tenth minute Bellamy chipped Wright from 20 yards to restore West Ham's lead. After 25 minutes Garvan beat Green to get his second of the match.

In the second half Ashton got his second of the match shooting low past Wright from ten yards after 57 minutes. In the 75th minute Ashton completed his hat-trick after converting a Reid cross. In the 78th minute Noble made it eight with a spectacular 25 yard effort.

In the 89th minute Lee headed in Ipswich's third of the evening.
