West Ham Gossip on Monday

The Manchester Evening News have been forced to apologise to Gianfranco Zola for saying he broke Premier League rules by telephoning Manchester City's Bulgarian striker Valeri Bojinov and asking him to play for West Ham. The paper now admit that Zola did no such thing.

The Telegraph have a column about Savio today, Savio heading for cult status at Upton Park. The article includes this quote from Zola,

Savio came on and did very well and I am pleased for him because he came here followed by a lot of expectation and, to be honest, he was under pressure a little bit because he knows that everybody is waiting to see something special from him."

The Star has an interview with Alan Curbishley who seems to think West Ham will be stretched if they suffer a couple of injuries.

I don’t think they could have really let any more players go,”said Curbs. “A lot of the fringe players have left and I think that’s left them a little bit short. But they seem to be having the luck I never had regarding injuries.

“They don’t want injuries now because they have a settled side playing well but a couple of injuries can change that. I didn’t have the luxury of playing the same side twice.I never had a fully fit James Collins or Scott Parker but that’s the way it goes.

“But the squad I left there was decent.
