West Ham After Fat Sam

Sky Sports are reporting that West Ham want to interview Sam Allardyce, Avram Grant, Dave Jones and Ian Holloway for the manager's job at Upton Park.

Personally I've never enjoyed a performance I've seen by a team managed by Sam Allardyce. Over the years I've felt betrayed by West Ham more times than I could mention but I think the appointment of Fat Sam would just about be the final straw.

If they bring that lummox in they can kiss goodbye to filling a sixty thousand seater stadium.

I'm gonna try to be contrarian here. I understand what you're all saying. But times have changed, and we supporters need to look at things a bit differently than we used to. I for one cannot go through another season like this past one. We need the safety of mid table. We need someone that can work the transfer market on a budget. Big Sam probably delivers both of those things. And I think that level of safety is what could allow us to move to the Olympic Stadium, sell Upton Park, and be in many ways more financially sound than most.

While Grant is a viable choice, and he is getting a lot of good press, if you gave him back the 9 points he was docked they still finish last. And he has no track record at all in the transfer market.

Maybe in my advancing age I will opt for safety over beauty. But it's my story and I'm sticking to it.

USA Dave sell Upton Park!!! my god what next change the strip from cleret & blue.
I hate what is happening to my beloved hammers over the last few years starting with the walk out of harry, we have slowly gone down hill untill now we seem to be in free fall.
i fear next year will be just as tough with the expected exodus of our best players.
the fact that one of top players thinks its a step up to go to Birmingham!!!
just about sums it up for me.
West Ham till i die!!

At this point ,survival is the issue the next two seasons while we reduce our debt and trim the squad. I hate the football Allardyce plays ,but I wud put up with it for a year or two if it kept us in the top flight. Once our finances are in better shape, then perhaps we can try to attract a manager that plays better quality football. Grant wud be my choice, but even Sam wud be better than what we experienced last season, which was inexcusable

@dave.....despite the fact that pompy finished last even with the 9 point deduction they also lost alot of their top players, Grant managed to get the very best out of what he had if we were to get him it would be a steel for west ham as far as im concerned and i think we should pull out all the stops to get him he's taken a team to the champions league final ffs! and he took pompy to within a wisker of the FA cup its grant all the way for me

Mick, your optimism is great. Seriously. I think I've decided the song tells me all I need to know; "Fortunes, ALWAYS, hiding....". I want you to be right. I'd have Grant. But I really think I'd feel safer with Sam.

And don't kill the messenger over Upton Park. The two G's have made it clear that if they are approved to move they will do so and sell the current ground. I love Upton Park. I even persuaded my wife to go to a game on our honeymoon (nil-nil against Derby by the way). But I simply couldn't begrudge them the chance to pay off all of the debt and creating a transfer kitty in one swoop. It makes too much business sense.

They are ruthless and rude. But in this case I think they would right.

West Ham has lost it soul. I have supported this club for 40 years and have never felt more disconnected to the team and the club. Glenn

I agree with Glenn.
I was embarassed with the cowardly sacking of Franco.
Breach of contract, laughable. You don't want him, sack him, give him compensation, and move on.
The 2 David's did not have the good sense to do that.
Now they plan on selling our England Internationals.
not good I'm afraid...
Rob.

With you two....the new owners are turning the club into another circus. I know we need to reduce the debt, but surely selling everyone is stupid.

As for GF as i have said before he deserved better. Whether or not he should have stayed is not the point. The fact is they have treated him badly and done nothing but made action against the club inevitable.

I dont agree that we should stay in this league at all costs. To have have Big Sam would be to sell out. I would rather go down and play properly than make this club worse than it already is.

Anyway...its a moot point. Sam wont come to London.

Kenny
