West Ham 1 Oxford 0

I don't believe West Ham finally win a competitive match and I missed it. Although, from reading a few match reports, it seems I didn't miss much, with West Ham only managing to beat a team, who last year played in the conference, by a goal in the fourth minute of extra time.

It appears Stech in goal, making his first-team début, had a solid game and was named man of the match. Parker scored the winning goal, which the BBC claim was unfair on Oxford, who they say "at least deserved a crack at the Hammers in extra-time".

The BBC say West Ham lacked conviction and creativity and that Oxford managed to create a number of chances. The Guardian also point to West Ham's lack of fire power up front and single out Piquionne as 'particularly culpable'. They claim that the striker had a number of easy chances but missed them all.

Ben-Haim also made his competitive début for West Ham in this game.

Very worrying performance. Even with 5 regular starters not playing, there was no excuse. More of a worry than the performance vs. Bolton
