West Ham Wait on Parker Fitness

Many of today's newspapers claim that Avram Grant has hit out at West Ham's owners and told them to stop piling on the pressure. His statement, on the whole, actually seems supportive of the owners but he does seem to be a little annoyed about the importance they are placing on today's game,

"Look, we have a long way to go. After 14 games there is still a long way. Nobody needs to tell us how important the game is.

"How people describe it will not change the fact we are playing at home against a good team and we need to do everything to win.

"If people say it is Save Our Season or not Save Our Season, for us it is less important. We want to win the game. But even if we win we have a long way until we say, which I believe we will, that we can do it."

In other news many of the papers say that West Ham will wait until today to decide on Scott Parker's fitness. There is also much speculation over whether Carlton Cole will be dropped after his midweek outburst.

This ‘save our season’ line is yet another reason to think the owners should shut up and concentrate on running the club (other examples include saying that every player is for sale except Parker and ‘West Ham Olympic’) It is cheap hype (something that should be expected from the former owner of the Daily Sport), it attaches a disproportionate amount of importance to the game which puts more pressure on a team already low in confidence and gets the fans even more wound up before the game and so more desolate afterwards if it doesn’t our way. It’s hard to know if the owners genuinely think that it helps or if they are simply trying to sell tickets.

Paul I agree with you, G&S need to shut the **** up! I'm sick of hearing from them, its borderline pathetic! The only person I wanna hear from is Avram and our captain (should be Parker)!

I do hope Parker is fit today! IRONS, IRONS, IRONS!

I think the point they are trying to make is if we cannot beat the likes of Birmingham, West Brom,Blackpool and wigan who are in the same fight as us then we truly are in the S@@t.
I hope we can beat Wigan today my heart says yes my head says draw at best, i pray i am wrong.
I was at Liverpool last week Scouse friend got me a ticket and it was awful, i am spending more hard earned cash today i live in Lincolnshire now so its not cheap, so i would like to hear more from Gold & Sullivan on what the hell they are going to do to stop this shambles becoming a disaster!!
I don't think Grant is the right guy as i have said before i would bring Pardew back and possibly Stuart Pearce to kick our defenders arse's!!
