West Ham's Chimbonda Bid Rejected

West Ham have had a bid, believed to be around £4 million, turned down by Wigan for defender Pascal Chimbonda. The Frenchman stunned Latics fans by handing in a transfer request on the last day of the season.

However the Latics seem determined not to let the player leave for less than £6 million. The player has three years left on his contract and the club have said that they will make him play in the reserves if he fails to show committment to the club, and will not let him leave cheaply. It is believed that the club have already turned down two bids by Spurs for the player.
