Tick, Tick, Tick Goes The Clock

With a little over twelve hours to go before the end of the transfer window there aren't many rumours of West Ham activity, apart from a couple of sites rehashing the "West Ham are thinking of making an improved £8 million bid for Matthew Upson." Well they haven't got much time left to think about it.

The most interesting news of the day comes at the end of long roll call of excuses from Curbishley on the official site (he's had to cope with a lot of injuries),

"We'll have to see what the final day brings because everyone will be scratching around trying to do things. Here at West Ham we've been linked with all sorts of people and some of it's been quite outrageous.

And we've made our position clear, too. We're trying to bring people in rather than let them go and that's why I'm still not too sure about Javier Mascherano's reported move to Liverpool. We'll just have to see if we do anything on the last day."

Curbishley isn't sure about Mascherano's move. Does this mean Curbishley actually wants to play Mascherano but isn't being allowed to by Magnusson or MSI? If not why would he stop the player moving to a team where he might actually get a game?
