West Ham Deny Bent Bid

Sky Sports are reporting that the Addicks have rejected a huge £18 million bid from West Ham for Darren Bent. The Sky Sports website has no evidence or source for this claim and Curbishley only yesterday stated,

"We have not made any bid for Darren Bent. It was made quite clear to us by Charlton Athletic that the player was not for sale, and so that is the end of the matter."

West Ham have now issued an official statement denying they made a renewed bid for Bent,

"West Ham United can once again confirm that no bid has been made for the services of Charlton Athletic striker Darren Bent.

Following a report on the Sky Sports News channel earlier today, claiming that Charlton had rejected an £18million offer from West Ham United, we can categorically deny the story.

Both West Ham United and Charlton Athletic issued statements on Monday, confirming that no bid had been made, after Charlton made it clear that the player was not for sale, and the situation remains the same.

For the benefit of both clubs and our supporters, we hope this will bring an end to the matter."
