West Ham Transfer Frenzy

With four days left before the end of the transfer window and with a cash rich West Ham in a perilous position in the Premiership the club are being linked with a host of players.

Sky Sports claim that West Ham have entered the race to sign St Etienne striker Frederic Piquionne. Piquionne appears to have played his last game for Les Verts after falling out with club officials over his desire to move to Lyon.

Gerard Houllier has been keen to land the 28-year-old throughout the January transfer window, but St Etienne are unwilling to sell him to their rivals.

According to the Sunday Mirror Charlton are ready to let West Ham sign Darren Bent but the newspaper reports the deal could cost the Upton Park club £17million and they may have to include Marlon Harewood and Hayden Mullins in part-exchange.

The Observer report that Nigel Reo-Coker is annoyed that Lucas Neill, on a reputed £65,000-a-week, is earning several times his salary. Obviously on his current wage Reo-Coker can only buy bling whilst Neil can now afford the bling-bling.

In the 'never going to happen' file are rumours that Gudjohnsen, unhappy at Barcelona could move to West Ham, who are prepared to better his wage.
