West Ham's Upson Bid

West Ham may well make a third bid for Matthew Upson as Birmingham look like they could sign Sheffield Wednesday's Algerian centre-half, Madjid Bougherra. The Wednesday chairman, Dave Allen, said he was keen to go ahead with the transfer, providing Birmingham met his valuation,

"If Birmingham come in properly, we'll be able to do a deal because I know their directors very well. It depends on what happens with Matthew Upson. I'd like Bougherra to stay, everyone would, but if we get £3 million for him, it will be a deal well done."

If Birmingham are looking for cover at centre back it seems they may be prepared to sell Upson after all, but it seems that West Ham will need to bid at least £8 million.
