West Ham in the Papers

The Daily Mirror say that Reading will offer Nicky Shorey the biggest pay deal in the club's history to stop him joining West Ham in the next transfer window.

The Daily Star say that Matthew Etherington is back to his best after admitting his gambling addiction year,

"I hit rock bottom last season and that was probably a reflection on my form. I suppose you get a time in your career where things do not go right for you and last year was one of those years.

But I dealt with it and all that is behind me now. I have made a great step forward.

I wasn't happy last year and I am moving on, hopefully I'll keep taking the right steps. I have the ability and I've just got to maintain it."

(Non Whu) The Times say that Middlesbrough estimate that at least 60 pubs on Teesside show their home matches live, and illegally, on Saturday afternoons. They claim this affects attendances more than ticket prices. - Like that's the reason they have no fans.

I heard that there's a lot of DIY going on in the North east & plenty of opportunity to watch paint dry!
