West Ham's Performance Against City

The Daily Express felt that the 'defences reigned supreme'. West Ham are a 'resilient side' and felt that Boa Morte 'should have passed to Freddy Ljungberg.' In fact The Times felt that 'most of the football on the night came from West Ham United.'

The Daily Mirror felt Ashton and Boa Morte should both have scored for West Ham. The Daily Telegraph also thought Ashton 'ought to have opened the scoring.' The Guardian felt that Boa Morte was involved in 'West Ham's three best chances (and) his departure reduced their threat.'

However The Mail (and most of the papers) felt Petrov was the man of the match and although when Elano scored West Ham 'could already have been a couple of goals to the good' Petrov's creativity in the end decided the match.
