West Ham's Plan to Save Pompey

The Mirror say West Ham were behind a plan to save Portsmouth. The Mirror say West Ham proposed that the other 19 clubs in the Premier League could each loan Portsmouth £500,000. However the Premier League rejected the plan as it was against the league rules.

The Mail say that David Gold insists that the Premier League has an obligation to save Portsmouth. Portsmouth should be saved from extinction by an emergency cash advance from the Premier League if all other avenues fail, according to David Gold.

If Portsmouth go out of business it means that all points won by clubs against Portsmouth this season will be deducted. If this happens West Ham will drop to second from bottom in the league.

In other news the NoW claim that Valon Behrami needs to pen a new contract at West Ham leaving the door open for Lazio, Roma, Juventus and Manchester City who are all keen on the midfielder.

They say Palermo hope to tie up a deal for Behrami in the summer.
