West Ham Need to Score More Goals
The Daily Mirror says that Matthew Upson will be back to face Arsenal but that both he and Piquionne are sure to miss the Carling Cup-tie against Stoke.
Matthew Upson says that West Ham need to analyse what went wrong against Newcastle but he thinks that the club can get clear of the relegation zone,
"We have to go away, analyse and find out the reasons why we unperformed. We know two wins is really going to pick you up out of there and thrust you into mid-table area. I think that is an area we feel we can realistically maintain.
When Carlton's fit and playing he's a great asset for us. With him back playing and fit it gives a good selection of strikers, that's important for us because I don't think we've scored more than one goal in a few games now. We need to increase that ratio."

No shit Sherlock!
The comment by Upson shows that he's missing the point. There were periods last season when we were not scoring ANY goals at all . The problem is notthe fact that we are only scoring 1 goal per game recently. The problem is the goals that we CONCEDING. How can a captain of the team,himself a centerback ,not grasp that it is our inability to keep a clean sheet that is making us come unstuck.
This is not about a lack of scoring primarily,even if scoring more than one a game wud obviously help. This is about a failure to close down space , a failure tp stop the supply of crosses into the box,and a failure to mark threats inside the box properly. Not to mention a goalkeeper who is very tentative in coming off his line or to collect crosses
Upson seems to be passing the buck here ,and it reveals a lot about why the club is in such trouble . If teh captain does not understand teh root of the problem what hope is there that the rest of the team will?
So opinions, time for Avram to go and take his bloody silly 4-3-3 with him or not?
