Scott Parker - Player of the Year

Scott Parker will tonight collect his Football Writers Association Player of the Year award at a ceremony at the Royal Lancaster Hotel.

With West Ham firmly rooted to the bottom of the table Parker's achievement is even more amazing. Playing in a team that has been struggling all season Parker has stood out.

Sadly it looks likely that the talismanic midfielder will not be at West Ham next year. Speaking to The Evening Standard Parker says,

"I have the utmost respect for the fans. Yes, I'm winning awards because I'm playing the best football of my career. Why? Because I feel wanted here and it feels like home.

"I'm like every player, I want to be playing at the highest level I can and in the Premier League. I don't know what the future holds for me but, for the moment, I'm still keeping everything crossed that West Ham stay up. Otherwise . . ."

If he had the utmost respect for teh fans then perhaps he should have thought carefully before participating in England internationals which seemed to make worse the injury that he has been carrying. He may have had a great season, but when it really counted most for the club,he failed to put the club, and the supporters, first. From the moment he returned from England duty he was not properly fit. The time when the internationals were being played is when he should have been resting, trying to ensure that he was fit to avoid this club being relegated.

Hello,
I am emailing you about an opportunity that we may have for you with our quickly growing company, Sports Haze. Very simply, our website (www.sportshaze.com) is split up into key cities. At the moment we are looking to fill a number of positions and one of these is a West Ham Reporter for our London page. This would be able to promote you as a writer through the Sports Haze brand.

I came across this blog and have really enjoyed your articles. Having seen some of your work, I believe that you would be a great fit for the position.

Along with the revamp of our website we're also going to offer $2 per 1000 views for each writer as well.

If you’re interested let me know at jameswillis@sportshaze.com and I’ll send some more details on to you as to what the role would exactly entail.

Regards,
James Willis
Director of Human Resources at Sports Haze

5.54, you serious???? this guy cannot win! for years west ham fans have called for Scott Parker and Rob Green to be England Internationals and now they have they are getting stick left right and centre!!!!

Yes Parker Picked up/made worse the injury that has kept him out, but it is hardly his fault. The fault lies with the FA and the fact they place England friendlies in middle of the season. All teams are afffected, Gerrard and Liverpool are one such case.

How many times this season has Parker played through the pain, and injury for his club? Maybe blame the club for keep playing him. and not resting him sooner.

But you say put club first, Green is pretty much looking at quitting International Football and look at the abuse across the country he is gettting, as are the other keepers.

Playing for England is the single biggest honour a person can get and you cannot begrudge him of that honour.

And you cannot place our relegation on him, there are 10 other people on that pitch, and personally if they had actually bothered turning up week in and week out, then we wouldnt be having this conversation as we would be safe.

But lets pick on the one decent player we have had all season, who is the one of two players (Green) who have given their all for this club, and played blinders nearly every week.

Lets just hope we stay up, (however unlikely), that B'ham lose both games, (by at least 2 Goals) and we can win our games, with Blackpool losing and Wigan.
