West Ham Keen on Emerton, Toon on Ashton

Newcastle's interest in Dean Ashton has surfaced again, with Sporting Life reporting that the club have made an enquiry to West Ham about the player and are willing to offer in excess of £10 million. The Toon are desperate to land a decent striker after the retirement of Shearer and the injury to Owen but Pardew is believed to be keen to hold on to the player.

Brett Emerton continues to be rumoured to be on the move, with West Ham seen to be his preferred choice over Everton and Fulham. It is reported that although Pardew is also monitoring the situation of Tel Aviv's John Pantsil, Emerton is his preferred option.
