Zamora Wants Out

The Sunday Mirror are reporting that Bobby Zamora wants to leave West Ham in order to play regularly. The paper quotes a so called 'close friend' of the player,

"Bobby is not happy. He thought he did enough when called upon last season to persuade the manager to give him more of a chance. But with Carlton joining it seems he has slipped even further down the pecking order. He loves West Ham and doesn't really want to leave, but he feels he has no choice if he wants to play regularly."

I hope this story is not true. The signings of Ashton and Cole must be worrying for Zamora. However whilst The Mirror claims he is West Ham's fifth placed striker Zamora is presumably ahead of Sheringham now, and with European competition he should have ample opportunity to prove his worth over Cole.

I'd be sorry to see Bobby go, thought he did OK with his limited chances last term, but if he is going to be even further down the pecking order next term we could probably get £2m for him which could be used to strengthen weaker areas of the team.

Whether or not we needed to sign Cole in the first place is another matter.

Zamora is definitely our best sub, I would hate to see him leave. I appreciate he needs first team football. I think this season he might get more of a chance as we have so many games. I hope he decides to stay and fight for his place.
