Ashton's £50,000 West Ham Deal

According to The Sun Dean Ashton is ready to sign a deal with West Ham which will see his wages rise from £13,000 a week to £50,000.

The Sun also claim that Nolberto Solano will be leaving the club after West Ham decided against renewing his contract.

Didn t realize his wages were that low. given what other strikers good enuf to be in the england set-up are on, u can understand why he felt he deserved an improved contract, even if his performance for part of last season was indifferent.

If it s true about Solano ,it s not a surprise, but it s still ashame as even at his age ,he still came up with a few vital goals for us

well i am genuinely sad to read about Solano. he has experience and he is a humble person. two attributes that i think the younger, up and coming players need to be exposed to and could learn from.

i remember when we had the discussion about international players traveling for country games; he was the player in particular that i had on my mind when i objected to the mere mention of putting club before country.

now, how much savings has WH made by showing Solano the door and moving Ashton to a salary that is... hmmm... i am rendered speechless by it

yes, i think it s disappointing because I don t think it wud have required a lot of cash to keep Solano for another season. On top of which he was liked by a lot of supporters . This seems a case of penny wise/pound foolish if it came down to wages.
