West Ham Saturday Gossip

The Independent say that Joe Kinnear wants to make West Ham's Matthew Upson his first signing at Newcastle United - but it will take over £6m to sign the defender (and a better club).

The Independent also say that Zola has plans to slash the West Ham squad from 34 players to 21 plus three goalkeepers. The Independent say favourites to go in the West Ham fire sale are, Julien Faubert, Luis Boa Morte, Calum Davenport, Nigel Quashie, Daniel Gabbidon, Lee Bowyer and Jonathan Spector (who recently signed a new contract).

In The Times Zola says "I know I have to improve ... So many things have happened on and off the pitch, but I'm not going to complain."

The Telegraph says "Gianfranco Zola appears to be too nice to be West Ham manager."

6 mil for Upson? We bought him for more than that and surely his value has went up considerably in the past year. If Newcastle spent 10 mil on Colocinni, than I would say the price would be a few million higher.
