West Ham Get Out of Jail

Stoke 1 West Ham 3

I didn't get to see this game but from the sound of it West Ham made a reasonable recovery after an awful first half.

By all accounts Stoke were fairly unlucky to go in to the half-time break only one goal to the good. As it was West Ham went behind early on after once again failing to cope with a ball crossed into the box. In the 6th minute Jones headed home a Pennant cross.

After the break West Ham appear to have played some better football and equalised within six minutes of the end of 90 minutes. Once again West Ham's saviour was Parker nodding in from 8 yards from a Barrara cross.

The game then went into extra time. In the 96th minute Mark Noble beat three defenders before cutting the ball back to Manuel da Costa, who scored from ten yards. Late on Noble did it again with a slide rule pass sending Obinna clear. Obinna then wrapped the game up with West Ham's third.

I was there first half dreadful second half + extra time outstanding. the subs (behrami, obinna and most of all noble) were the complete difference. barrera, faubert and da costa were also sublime, along with as usual scott parker.mccarthy was a waste of space

Very good recovery after conceding yet another soft goal. Altho I wud have preferred 3 points against Toon,a win is a win,and hopefully will allow the time to go to the Emirates with more confidence for what is obviously an incredibly tough match. Noble was outstanding when he came on.

Something that stood out was how Parker works miles more than many of his teammates. I cannot understand how certain WHU players can stand there and watch ,whilst Parker runs his socks off. You wud think that people wud follow Parker's example. In some cases that is still not happening and it is unacceptable.

I was at the game and thought da Costa was outstanding throughout
Obviously the goal was classic Jones and I haven't seen a replay but I feel that Tomkins was marking him (may be wrong as I was at the other end of the Rio stand.)
Parker magnificent throughout until he just ran out of puff and Noble came on at just the right time to take over.Stech looked confident,Faubert looked good going forward and linked up well with Barrera who's final ball was disappointing until he set up Super Scott.
Cole started off looking wooden but improved as the game went on.
Macarthy was awful.
Ben Haim looked solid and Boa was...well, Boa.
No idea what Kovac was supposed to be doing but whatever it was it was ineffective.

Wembley, here we come!!
